It’s a very old-and-new game. Almost as if it’s been in development hell since 2011, the 2000’s retro isometric look, the indie games controls and ideas but at the same time couldn’t be released then because of some limitations.

For the Dutch guy that I am the demo felt to Dutch for me 😅 The level design and sounds are so cozy Dutch that the dev really nailed that feeling. It is just not for me.

But now I wonder. Do other people experience that when a game is based on your direct surroundings?

This game is all kinds of unique. Just looking at it i also have all kinds of ideas for something with this aesthetic/art direction (not with same game mechanic it currently uses i mean).

I assume this is from a Belgian or Dutch studio, since "Schim" is essentially Dutch for "Shadow". (Pronunciation is a bit different than what you're doing, the "ch" is more like the raspy "j" in Spanish instead of a hard "k" sound.)

This looks cool and different and for $20 to $25 I would definitely pick it up but unfortunately here in Australia it's almost $40 selling for $37.50 and for what it is I think it's a bit much for me, I just put it on my wishlist on all the consoles and whichever one it has a decent sale on I'll get it then. $25 or less I'll get it for sure.

I reviewed it too and gave it 6/10. Love the art style, especially as the locations are most inspired by areas near my home. The music is a bit boring though, as is the gameplay. It has fun twists, but it gets too similar. The platforming isn't very precise.
By the way, schim is Dutch, it has a harder gggg sound, not like skim.
