I haven't run my 120Vac 1/4hp vacuum pump more than a few hours but happy with it so far.

Surprised it lasted that long. You really get what you pay for, even though a lot of stuff is made in china now which is really sad.. That harbor freight stuff is probably fine for the occasional DIY-er, at least then it will probably last until the warranty expires, which is what I suspect it was designed to do.

I still have my Edwards E2M28 from when I used to work in the trade. It's pushing 15 years old now but it's only had one rebuild and still pulls down to a few microns at the pump head.

It's very similar to the large pump I've seen you use use in a few videos.. only downside is its 100lbs. But 21cfm so it takes no time at all to pull something down, especially smaller commercial / automotive.

This modern battery stuff is amazing, but if I were still in the trade i'd probably go with something made to last with service and rebuild options designed in.

Great experiment though, looking forward to seeing how long it lasts this time.

It's made for the amateur mechanic. Not made for commercial service. How did previous pump fail?
