A young Reese Witherspoon's character, Dani, gets her first love stolen by her own sister, Maureen, in the 1991 film The Man in the Moon. Maureen is the worst movie sister EVER!

Dani has every right to be mad at Maureen. I always hated when the dad said that Maureen was hurting more than Dani after court died. What’s she got to be mad for!?

Court is attracted to Dani which is the problem because she is young. He really likes her and wanted to do more than kiss her at night but feels guilty. Dani is too young for that. At his age, he has already been with a girl. He's a teen boy so his hormones are raging. He literally pushes her away to stop himself. After he tries to push her away emotionally and be friendly at a distance. He gets grumpy. Maybe he's stressed out by his responsibilities too. Maureen is older and seems more mature so he pursues her. It is safer and he can act on it.

I love this movie! But I hated the ending😭 and if my sister had a crush on a boy and loved him I would never get together with him lol

Court was the real villain. Maureen did try to reject court once she knew Dani liked him, but still messed up for not standing on business. Court treated Dani like shit because she ain’t “filled” out yet. They are literally 3 years apart from each other.
