That JTM45 capture is making look to some of my gear here in a really dark way 😅…

Man I’ve already tried so many modellers and pedals to achieve this tone… this is my dream tone, man.

Please never delete this capture from the library 😅

it's such a good thing for the musicians that watch Leon that he has the knowledge and the intention and he picks apart the things he reviews so ppl can know everything. most of the advertiser-youtubers out there only stay on the surface and parrot the script given by the companies. great job man

I just bought the TONEX pedal a few months ago ... after playing with the computer based version of the software. The pedal will make playing under the typical constraints on stage these days much more practical. In the studio, it will still be my tube amps ... why use an imitation of the real thing when you can have the original. Very satisfied so far with TONEX.

I was looking at this pedal, the NUX Amp Academy, an HX Stomp, the Humboldt Simplifier, and a few other options. I finally decided on the cheapest option available - the Joyo Preamp House R-15. No programming, no micro/sub menus, no edit software, no delay or reverb, just the pedal, with 9 amps (a clean and a dirty option for each). Just turn the knobs and save one clean and one dirt preset. That's it. Plain and simple. Oh, it does have an FX loop. And sounds great.

I've been very happy with the ToneX and combined with an H90 it's been my choice for low volume home practice and recording. I think some of the software UI will improve over time and I think they intended the workflow to be that you would solely use the software to play and tweak your presets and then transfer them over to the unit. I think it would make a lot of sense for IK to add some kind of social media style upvoting and commenting to the amp captures. Also the ability to tip someone for a cool capture would be nice.

Also, I've found it helpful to name all of my captures starting with my initials. So for example, "TF DRRI Clean" This way when I search the library for "TF" all of my captures come up.

About the workflow to edit the presets, you can put the Tonex pedal in interface mode (Global Settings > Operation > Interface) and then you can tweak the presets and try them at the same time on the pedal. When you're happy with the sound, you can copy it to the pedal.

Dude, because the app is unanimously so clunky and frustrating, your captures pretty much make this pedal worth buying to the population at large now! No doubt you deserve a commission for this fantastic work!! Thanks for always keeping it real man!

I am using one live. It is definitely the best sound I have ever had front of house. I use 4 amps captures.
JTM 45
Plexi 68
BF Fender
And Tone junkie Ac44.

I have also used it as a stomp box and that sounds equally as This box and amp library is absolute value for money!!

Thank you so much Kevin!!! for purchasing this so Todd could make a review about this pedal. Thank you so much Todd. I've been looking at this pedal to have a dual amp setup together with my Kemper. Take care!!

You can place an EQ anywhere in the Kemper. Before or after preamp… after cab or even at the output

This is already so interesting to me.. For the price. I'd never use it to capture, but I'd use others captures.. 😛
Your captures sound outstanding already man!
God that MP1 is heavenly! :-) Love those preamps! Very cool.. I agree, the compressor was a strange choice. It must have been easy to include or something.
I love the gain. The MP1 sounds best to me so far of the models you've captured sir!
Of course, I'm bias for the MP1..
The synergy thing sounded like it lost signal or something. Strange!
The cleans I thought were good sir!
Man, I"m loving those Lace pickups the more I hear them on here.. Wow.. I'm going to have to build another strat just for some Lace pickups.. Dammit.. 😛
Have a great day my friend.. I'm off to rest after working hard at the diner..
Be safe sir! I hope you didn't get any of the bad weather there.. I heard there was a cyclone on the western part of the country?
That software is a little weak if you ask me.. It would be frustrating I can see ..

Absolutely agree with the desperate need for lo-cut and hi-cut! It needs to be implemented into all the cab modes, including a full amp+cab capture. Honestly blows my mind they left this out. I can understand from the point of view that Tonex was only computer software first, in DAW slapping lo-pass and hi-pass ain't such big deal, but a live pedal format for gigging... Can't believe they don't have it. Way to cripple your own device

I got one to complement my axe fx 3, and to have decent amp sounds when gigging again (I recently started after years of inactivity).
Paired with the h90 it sounds great, ut it's so painful that to set either the tonex or the h90 I need a computer. I have been waiting for ages for a mobile app for the h90, and for the tonex it would be amazi g to be able to load captures and IR's from my tablet or mobile.
But the feature I would beg the most for is a tuner in the tonex.
It has the dsp power and the display capability and would be super easy to implement. I wonder why they haven't done it.
Thanks Leon for another great review!

Leon thanks for another Excellent demo. EQ is an overlooked effect for sure. Pre or Post it will sculpt your sound to perfection. I love your videos!

Actually I like the stereo out. I send one of the outs directly to my FRFR for a wet/dry/wet setup. Sent the wet effects to PA.

Great stuff, LT! I have one here too. Hopefully will get around to exploring this week. All the best!

Tonex is a game changer in size format and amp sounds ratio. But the good ends there. They have a ton of work to do in terms of usability. That being said, I have in on my main rig with a Helix Stomp XL. Ridiculous combo. Excited to see Tonex hopefully make continued improvements.

Your criticisms are spot on, I hope IK take note and do something with that clunky software. It's a great little device though, I think your right that it may well become a classic.
